PT Adaro Minerals Indonesia Tbk (IDX: ADMR) is a subsidiary of PT Adaro Energy Indonesia Tbk that focuses on metallurgical coal mining and mineral processing businesses. It currently operates as the first and only hard coking coal (HCC) producer in Indonesia and is building an aluminum smelter in a green industrial park in North Kalimantan.
Through its subsidiaries, the Company has five Coal Contract of Work (CCoW) concession areas with large metallurgical coal resources and reserves in East Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan province. It started with Lampunut’s hard coking coal, a premium quality product of its subsidiary PT Maruwai Coal, which has been warmly welcomed and known by most steel producers in the global market. Strategic plans are being developed for the company’s remaining metallurgical coal concessions to place Adaro Minerals Indonesia as one of the largest coking coal producers in the world.
The Company is also set to commence mineral processing operations as part of Adaro’s transformation into green business. In 2022, its subsidiary PT Kalimantan Aluminium Industry started the pre-construction phase for an aluminum smelter in the world’s largest green industrial park located in North Kalimantan. At the initial stage, this project is expected to produce aluminum ingot of around 500,000 tons/year, which will be increased to 1.5 million tons/year at the full scale. The mineral processing is part of the company’s initiative to both contribute to and capture the opportunities from Indonesia’s green economy being massively developed by the government.
